“playing with people’s lives”

Daily Beast: Robert De Niro has no use for presidential wannabe Donald Trump … During an onstage interview with NBC News anchor Brian Williams at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, the Oscar-winning actor said….

…”It’s like a big hustle. It’s like being a car salesman. Don’t go out there and say things unless you can back them up. How dare you? It’s awful. Just go out there and speak and say these terrible things?… It’s crazy.”

…..When Williams asked De Niro if he ever gets frustrated with American politics, the actor/director responded with a defense of Obama against his Republican detractors.

“I think of the possibility of the government being shut down and I say, ‘How did we get to this point?’ …I know Obama was trying to bridge the gap. His intentions are really good. Maybe some things are not as good as we all would like but his intentions are good. A lot of these guys – their intentions are not even good. They’re just playing a game and they’re playing with people’s lives.”

I always knew there was some reason I liked Robert De Niro, and now, I know why. He speaks the truth!

That was awesome. Thanks for sharing that, Tulips. We need more rappers to step up and make positive music like this.

“Dr. King, we livin’ your dream. My President is black, but he’s going green…I got my President’s back, I’m doing the same thing.” Nice.

My pleasure. I am grateful to a friend who directed me to this site and I am doing my best to share this site with as many people as I meet. As the person in the Reno video asked the president, “how do we combat that which is going out in the media”? I say by sharing this wonderful site with all of it’s great articles and video’s with as many people as we can. That Reno video is a powerful tool. The president got good questions and he was able to clearly explain his thoughts and goals. It’s a MUST SEE. IMHO.

Brian Williams is chickens— for not using Trump’s name in the interview. Why are so many media people afraid ofmthis bully? Robert D., whomis always spoken of as taciturn and terse in his responses to journalist, obviously can and will speak up when there are important issues. He spoke like a grown-up. I’ll bet Brian was not expecting such a response.
When will he and others in the media learn? There is a mostly silent (because we are not their ides of news) majority out there who understands what the president is up against and who supports him.

Side note: all of Robert DiNiro’s children are bi-racial or AA ( his oldest daughter). I’ll bet he sees a reflection of them and possibilities for their lives when he looks at the president.

This is unusual for DeNiro, to speak out like this. He’s a notoriously tough interview (not forthcoming), so he was obviously so stirred by outrage at Trump’s ridiculous despicable birther campaign that he decided he needed to say something. It does seem that many who should be protesting Trump fear his retaliation and vindictiveness and remain silent or skip around the issue. Not DeNiro though, not afraid of him.
I see Trump’s Slovenian born current wife, 25 years his junior, is launching her new line of jewelry on QVC this week, which I couldn’t believe. More money, more money, more money. I wondered if this was the reason for all the publicity-seeking. And I checked her age and she’s now 40, about the age when he dumps his wives for a newer younger model, so she may not be around much longer.
    He’s disgusting.

    • April 23, 2011 at 9:55 pm

Mrs. Trump was on QVC before Trump went birther so I have to wonder if its hurting her sales. When I first saw her on QVC my first thought was, “oh, oh…things must not be going well if she’s trying to make her own money.”

Maybe she is trying to get a little money of her own, which means alittle freedom from the arrogent bully. Just ask the other two ex wives.

Ceb, you are correct. I have been around a long time, and if not mistaken, Robert De Niro married an AA lovely lady back in the 90’s. They have a couple of children. They have been married for at least 12 plus years. This is real life for him as for any well-grounded person like us here.

Thank you Mr. De Niro! God bless you sir!

Even a blind man can see how incredibly hard this President works and how nobody lends a hand and instead he is being sabotaged and undermined from both right and left and media for political point scoring!

That this President has been able to accomplish what he has in 2+ short years and with all the obstruction, envious bashing and outright attacks, is nothing short of MIRACULOUS and makes the man all the more awe-inspiring!

NEVER in the history of this country has a sitting President been completely abandoned by even his own party and left to juggle and solve every aspect of things alone, while the very same people who should otherwise play their own assigned roles in lifting up and rebuilding our country instead pile on, disrupt, destroy and purposely wreak havoc!

There is a special place in hell for many of these people and for several their hell sojourn will start right here on earth!

I read on another post from yesterday were some of our regular TOD family were throwing out potential replacements for PBO in 2016?

Let me make this clear; I will not support ANYBODY who does not speak up LOUDLY, CLEARLY and CONSTANTLY in an effusive and unambiguous manner about and in support of President Obama!

If I do not hear and see them, I cannot and will not vote for any of them beyond President Obama’s run and time in office! PBO roused me from my complacency and inspired me to become politically active. He motivates me and I owe him my political awakening which I will only use in support of those who publicly, proudly and unequivocally support him and have his back and not with parsed or barely audible rhetoric!

Audrey, you speak for me with every word you’ve said. I think I had a rant just like this a couple weeks ago. Note- I had pledged donations to a couple of Democratic organizations, but I’ve decided the only person who gets my dollars is President Obama, and after him in 2012, forget it. I’m in for him, I’m out for the others as they are indeed lily-livered.

Its interesting to read this. I have had the same reactions. I am taking the measure of people by how they deal with the President. I intend to remember the measure I take as well.

I wonder if it is possible to start getting the word out now so that the unreliable, disloyal jokers (ex. Weiner)are aware that people feel this way? Might it not make a difference to some of them? Of course, ideally I feel they should support him because he is the leader of the party, and they have integrity and respect for the way the Democratic team should work, but failing that, if warning/threatening works ….. 😉

That is so fantastic that Robert De Niro spoke up and let the world know what common sense is and how the silly T-man is playing games without a care for the people. They say that Trump calls up the people who talk against him but I have a feeling that The Clown will be to chicken to call De Niro. Boy would I like to hear that conversation.

I’m glad Robert DeNiro spoke up too. But I bet NBC is dying to play this up for ratings on the Today Show or Nightly News. I watch NBC but I turn down the volume whenever Chump is on. For some reason, NBC seems to think people enjoy watching him be a bully. They like to fan the flames. 😦

      April 23, 2011 at 9:02 pm

I can imagine that De Niro will not hold back and will probably have many colorful words he’ll use in his conversation with The Chump. He seems to be someone who doesn’t suffer fools lightly. The Chump is a bully, and even bullies know with whom NOT to tangle, so I doubt if The Chump will be calling RD. Seinfeld handled The Chump beautifully. When The Chump lashed out, Seinfeld kept his composure. End of story. He left The Chump to look like a fool all by himself.

WOW! Thank you Mr. De Niro! I knew once Cosby and Jerry Seinfeld spoke out others would too. Because people know that Trump was lying, they knew he was using this Birther B.S. to get attention for himself and that stupid show. I want to see the letter the aggorent lying racists bully sends De Niro. The media is just as much to blame, because they allow Trump to sit on their tv news show and spread his lies. Thatstupid Chris Matthew of Msnbc even tried to imply that President Obama was afraid to debate Trump. I think Matthew has split personalities. I was waiting for some one to tell Trump that till you come up with some facts, I’m not discussing the birther nonsense. But no one told him that. The media loves to talk about President Obama poll numbers, but I have asked them to give us some poll numbers on what the people think of them, the media. Do the people trust the media? I haven’t seen one poll from the media about this. Wonder why. But thank goodness people are speaking up and out against that arrogent lying racists bully, Donald Trump.

    • April 23, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Afraid to debate Trump? Obama ain’t afraid to debate anybody. Just ask that room fool of House Republicans he took down more than a year ago. Has Chris Matthews read a transcript of a Trump interview? the guy says nothing. absolutely nothing. I would never do business with a guy like Trump. Never.

You never want to be an investor or vendor doing business with him. Thanks to the attention Trump is getting his story is getting out there. Hopefully this will make him a pariah in the entertainment area he has been opportunistically cashing in on. Our country’s governance is not his personal playground.

Anniebelle, I was watching Chris Matthews when he said this. He has done a 180 in regards to CHUMP in the last week. I must say I am stunned. I have lost all respect for him. I always saw him as one of the last few journalists around but that is now gone. He mentioned that he had spoke with Trump by phone as well. He also said CHUMP handled Seinfeld too. I was like what is he thinking CHUMP sounded like a wounded soul. The two CNN morning reporters ate CHUMP’s lunch just as George S did on GMA. They have sterotyped the President as this too cool and meek personality. I just remember the primary when he had both Clintons behaving like stumbling bumbling idiots. If you can take on the Clintons you can take on any political force.

Remember that poll on the media that came out a few months ago, anniebella? It showed that viewership is DOWN significantly! If more people knew what we knew about the MSM and it’s failure to do it’s job, the poll numbers would be even lower.

I’ve always loved Robert De Niro as an actor who works with boundless ability. I’ve always made it a point to see his films. I’m so gratified to see that he is speaking out against the imbecile Trump at this point in time when others are just trying to make a buck off the circus of it. De Niro has principles and a voice that he rarely uses. So I am very grateful that he spoke the truth so fully on this. Enough with the stupid birther crap. It’s just completely and obviously absurd and CRAZY. Only a cheap idiot would continue down this ugly path.

I am thankful for Dinero, Seinfield, Williams, Rock, and all the other speaking out against what Trump is doing. Everybody knows what he is doing is not only false but very dangerous. I hope Ari Emanuel is next to get after him. You don’t want that ask Mel Gibson.

By the way MSNBC is already discussing Melanie or whatever her name is as possible next first lady. It’s all a media game. She looks as old and disturbed as he does.

I’m glad Hollywood (minus Matt Damon) is starting to push back on the Chump for his birther position. He may find this is this worse business move he has ever made.

    • 38 Betty's Girl
      April 23, 2011 at 9:54 pm

Me too Anita! I truly think CHUMP thought no one would challenge him. He is finding out very differently. Some media talents ( I refused to call them journalists) are suggesting he has already won the battle because he brought the birther thing back into the mainstream media. I disagree because he hasn’t turned the issue againt the President one bit. He sits there and argue back and forth like a fool; furthermore he has put pressure on himself with his investigation claim.

That the media even entertains this discussion says a whole lot more about it than the teaparty and Donald Trump. Some in the media are no different than some folks in the teaparty, who have great difficulty accepting POTUS as president.

No other president, to my mind, has been treated the way this president has. It is a crying shame. For Brian Williams and others to even dignify questions about the president’s citizenship by entertaining these buffoons, sickens me. None of them would have given such credence to this kind of nonesense pertaining to any of this president’s predecessors. John McCain was born in Panama. His birth right has never been in question.

The idea that so-called respectable media people would condone this foolishness has shown them for what they are.

I have no respect for them. That Chris Matthews would fix his mouth to say that president Obama is afraid to debate Trump is just laughable.
