A comment left on the blog today, in response to that Texas interview with the President, by a Linda Van de Riet from Missouri.
There’s also, coincidentally, a Linda Van de Riet on the Missouri Jefferson County Republican Central Committee. A relation, maybe?
You know, these people will be consumed by their own hate one day. Hopefully.
PS Another coincidence! There’s a Linda Van de Riet from Missouri on Facebook:
I see she’s ‘interested’ in God. But not in His teachings, it seems.

Blackman reminded me of this rally in the comments – wow, that day must really have pained Ms Van de Riet:
Sen. Barack Obama waves as he arrives at a rally of 100,000 supporters in St. Louis, Mo., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008

Theo67: I’m grateful to see this nonsense from these types, because it reminds me how desperate this fight is for those who seek goodness and light. There are many who are wallowing in darkness, consumed by hate, and deceiving themselves that they are somehow fighting a “godly” fight – yet, as evidenced by this woman, the hate just spews forth from them – telling us the real story. We can never let these creatures win. This is not just a political fight. It’s much more than that, and I think it’s a battle that’s been raging for a long time.
I’m encouraged when I think of those who had to put their very lives in harm’s way, and those who still do in places far away, simply to gain the rights of being treated like human beings. Watching clips from the Civil Rights struggle, the clips from those fighting for their freedom now in the Middle East… if all we have to do is read nasty words from these lost individuals, then we have it so much easier. It does take a little away from your spirit each time you’re confronted with this stuff, but we can replenish our spirits quite easily because of … the many billions of people around the world who are not consumed by hate.

Thank you Theo
Hey Linda!
This is the best that you can do? Must really suck to be you; hurting no one but yourself. Join the other slugs on the other sites to spew your misery. No one here cares or is impressed.
“Coddled and petted?” I think they mean, disrespected and accused of lying about his orgin of birth. “Arrogant piece of Socialism?” I think they mean, well-mannered and intelligent. the Socialism remark is relative, because most people don’t mind socialism as long as their prefered news station calls it by a different name. “Full of himself dictator.” Yeah, because no other politican ever has had an ego. And by dictator I think they mean, elected official through democratic vote. But whatever. “Sell us out to every country and insult us along the way.” Have no idea what they mean here, seeing as the worldview of America has improved since he took office, but again, whatever. “Stomp all over the Constitution.” I think they’re thinking of someone else, it can be confusing. “Grabs his crotch.” Dirty mind! “Uses God only when it suits him.” Sorry, I don’t want my elected officials conducting sermons, I want them legislating, but again, what-ever. “Passing legislation that the American people don’t want.” I think they mean, passing legislation SOME American people don’t want, stop speaking for me please. “He can give us the finger.” I would say some people deserve a middle finger once in a while. The last president did it a lot actually. “He hates America.” Oh for pete’s sake, sing me a new tune, this one has gone stale.
“Socialist, Anti-American, Muslim loving, peice of trash.” You forgot, left-handed, gray-haired, bean-pole, big-eared, Chicago Thug, Basketball playing, suit-wearing, bad breath having, funny laugh, doodie headed, and lint licking. Most importantly, you forgot to mention another quality about our President, and between the two of us, I think it’s the one that bothers you the most. Don’t worry, we all know.
‘“Arrogant piece of Socialism?” I think they mean, well-mannered and intelligent.’
Sad, ain’t it, when good manners, intelligence, and respect for the person with whom you are conversing are equated with arrogance?
Insane people are everywhere. Why do reporters bother asking questions if they aren’t going to let him answer. Might just as well give their own damn speech and forget the interview. NO OTHER PRESIDENT has ever been treated this rudely by the media. Why could that be, do you suppose?
Thankfully, there were enough sane people to elect him in 2008, so we know there are at least that many. Once the campaign gets in full mode and Republican candidates start saying stupid shit, the media SHOULD turn their arrows towards the Republicans once in a while. Should!
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with
experience……Earth is full. Go home.
Chipsticks, I’m going to disagree with you posting this. We all know these kinds of comments are made but reading them just makes us sad and angry. I don’t think we should waste any energy on this. As you said, let them self-destroy with that hate.
That being said, Chipsticks, I’m very very grateful for what you do for us day after day.
But since he has posted it and allegedly found out who it is. Perhaps all those business sponsors (with their email addresses listed) on that website would be interested in what she has to say. Once we confirm this is the same person.
I understand and respect your point Lovepolitics, and I’m really sorry to upset you with this post. I know you all come here to get away from that level of hate, which is why I rarely post that kind of bile.
But this woman was different to the usual anonymous bigots who try to comment here – and there were lots of them today – she was more than happy to be identified, she’s proud of her bigotry.
For that reason I felt it was worth letting everyone see her comment, I just think it’s important sometimes to expose these creatures, rather than ignore them.
I don’t know if she’s the same Linda Van de Riet who’s on the Missouri Jefferson County Republican Central Committee (I should be able to establish that later), but whether she is or not this is yet more proof of how hate-filled and ugly these people are, at a time when sections of the MSM – who try to intellectualize these people’s agenda – still insist their hatred of the President is not about race. You know, “race card!”
But, we know, because of the President’s race, Linda Van de Riet concludes that he is anti-American, Muslim-loving piece of trash.
She’s the same class of Republican as the woman in Orange County who sent out that email a few days ago.
Next time they insist ‘it’s not about his race’, and sections of the media support their denial, we’ll have even more evidence – like this woman’s hate – to prove that that’s exactly what it’s about.
Sorry again Lovepolitics, I will always try to keep the site positive, because there is so much positive news to report. I just felt this vile woman was worth exposing.
Thanks for all that you do but I am gonna disagree partially on this. In one part of my life I was TV News producer and we meet all sorts of whackjobs like this day in and out. A professional journalists first duty is objectivity in reportage which is sorely lacking if you look at today’s news organizations.
The INSANITEA GOP would never have gotten this much attention ten years ago when I was a producer. Then we ignored foolishness. However today they are given celebrity status and reality TV shows!
This past decade the print and TV news industry were being threaten of becoming irrelevant. The new media was whooping traditional news butt, bigtime. Thus they went wild on us including all sorts of crazies as pundits. After all animated fools are or can be entertaining.
The crackpots are loose from the bottle and there is no way to put them back in except by confronting them however not with too much effort because they live and think in parallel universes and one does not want to be trapped at their levels indefinitely – the amount of time it would take to convert or educate one.
In conclusion my point for both of you is merely this, in this new age of journalism with 24 hour cable and bloggers everywhere the bad elements must be called out for what they are – rubbish.
Alas to ignore a child as most of them are mentally is a reckless foolish thing because our inaction can or could lead to something much worse — intrusion upon the safety of our elected officials.
Ciao form a fan in Europe,
Lee
Hi TeamObama, ah, that was a fascinating read. I’ve always been torn about whether the media should ignore these people and, so, starve them of the oxygen of publicity, but your last line summed it up for me:
“Alas to ignore … them … is a reckless foolish thing because our inaction can or could lead to something much worse – intrusion upon the safety of our elected officials.”
I agree, absolutely.
Chipsticks, I too agree. That is why I read some of those nasty comments. I need to be reminded of what is at stake. Racism is the biggest threat in my mind. You can actually debate other issues but not race. People will deny it no matter what. The president cannot say, you are being a racist.
On Politicususa, a pragmatic site, I saw an image sent out by a teaparty org. It was a friendly little picture with two adults apes, and one young ape. The young ape wore Obama face. The woman said, well, I am not a racist. These people are dangerous. I want to be mad so I can work hard and fight this bs. Also, these people are the biggest physical threat to PBO.
{{{Chipsticks}}} You are really special to us!
The above is my response to that hateful soul’s entry. I won’t debate your editorial decision in this instance; as you always reassure us, ‘You don’t need to apologize for your feelings’. IMO you read this kind of junk every day so that we don’t usually have to, so I’m going to delude myself that your sharing that with us today is a subconscious call for a hug or two – just to ward them off and boost your spirits. These haters would wear out a saint and you’ve always told us you are no saint. 😆 {{{Chipsticks}}}
Keep up the great and inspiring work you do here. Let the haters eat dirt!
Hiya VC, what can I say, you’re a dote 😉 You could be right, you know, maybe it was a plea for a hug after a long day sifting through the Teabagger hate! Although, I should say, the worst of the hate usually comes from our Professional Left buddies – a delightful character from a supposedly Dem site I used to post on left this message recently: “I hope you get head cancer”. Classy, eh?! The saddest thing about it was he falsely used the name of a poster on that site who is a friend, but the idiot didn’t realize he could be easily traced (as all commenters on the site can be – heck, WordPress is like Big Brother!). So, I emailed him …. but I never got a reply. What I’ve learnt from all of this – and I’m not at all surprised – is that there are elements of the Professional Left who are as viciously racist as any Teabagger you’ll ever meet. And still they call themselves ‘progressives’. Ugly people. I posted a screenprint of his comment on the site in question, just to let the pro-President Obama people there know the gutter levels to which these people had stooped, but it was deleted by the Mods straight away.
They’re a bitter minority, and they know it. That’s what eats them up.
Love ya VC.
The truth is hatred, racism, selfishness, etc. etc. have no party affiliations, or cultural monopoly. But we won’t dwell on them, and certainly not before bed!
Hey, what’s this about all ‘commenters’ can be ‘easily traced’? You mean I’m not really flying incognito? Oh man, I’ll have to be really careful about what I say from now on. Shucks! 😦 😉
Good night. Sleep tight!
This woman have the nerve, she is fill with such hate, I’m surprise it doesn’t eat her alive. It is clear to see that this Linda Van de Riet is fill with such hate for this black man. She is a pitiful racists witch, and only the hands of Jesus can help these kind of people. I am proud of the President I elected, he is a good man, a good husband, and father, and if the truth is known, he cares about this country more than people like this thing call Linda Van de Riet.
Gee, I wonder what is motivating that intense, debilitating, delusional hatred. I’m guessing nothing but skin tone. Pitiful.
Seems there are a lot of business sponsors on that website (with email addresses) who may be interested in what this committee member has to say when she thinks nobody will find out.
Of course we would need to confirm this is the same person first.
I have never been more proud of our POTUS and less proud of some of our electorate. Thanks for bringing us this site and for all the work you do, Chipsticks. Seeing Barack smile just makes my day!
But since he has posted it and allegedly found out who it is. Perhaps all those sponsors (with their email addresses listed) on that website for the “Lincoln-Reagan Day Celebration” (wtf??) would be interested in what she has to say. Once we confirm this is the same person.
Oops, this was supposed to be in response to another poster above. Sorry for the duplicate.
Ugh, her Facebook page says it all. I just threw up a little in my mouth.
http://www.facebook.com/people/Linda-Van-de-Riet/1826666543
And a little google search reveals she has devoted her time and energy to oppose the bill to ban puppy mills in Missouri. So extreme cruelty and suffering doesn’t seem to bother her—which is not surprising in someone so consumed by hate.
Okay. Somebody please send up smoke signals when these type of posts scroll of the front page. I really don’t need to read about this nutcase on The Obama Diary. No offense meant, and I appreciate the site and all the hard work that goes into it, but this negativity just feeds on itself, and I viewed this place as one of the few oases I could count on.
I need to get back to work anyway, LOL. Have a great day, everybody. I’ll check back tomorrow :-).
I understand what you’re saying. But in addition to all the uplifting and positives about President Obama, someone we all believe to be a person and President unmatched in quality and character, I think we all need to remain alert to some of the intense opposition he faces. There can be no lackadaisical Democrats leading up to this next election. All hands will need to be on board.
I agree with you dotster. Yes it is frustrating but we need to keep our ears and eyes open to these things. I am not American but for those who are being informed of the false message being broadcasted about our president and the stupidity of Republicans who want to take Obama’s Position (Trump, Palin) should motivate you all to push even harder to get him reelected!!!! You are seeing his hard work on this site and you are also seeing what men like Trump and their followers are all about; bringing up lies (such as the birthers issue) instead of proper critique of the president and giving suggestions to help America and by extention the world!I think the issue here is just race and it is becoming clearer! Also it may have undecided voters who may pop in this blog! OBAMA 2012!!! But I get your point PoliticalJ on wanting a place where there is only positivity since almost everywhere there are sooo much negativity such as dat ‘monkey photo’ I saw on another site…burns my heart!!
dotster, I think you made a very valid point. This site is a safe house from drop by shooters. We got slammed on TPV on Saturday night. Glen Greenwald sent his evil minions to rip Obama and us to shreds. That kind of stuff is horrible. Deaniac, normally shuts them down immediately, but he was for the evening, so we could not get rid of them.
I too want to know what we are dealing with.
As we near election time, it is only going to get worse.
dotster, I always enjoy your comments on BWD’s site.
Just read about the interview with the Texas reporter. Just wanted to make sure y’all know there are some of us Obama fans down here in Texas. And I’ll be happy to see him again when he campaigns here. Last time in Austin couldn’t have been any better!
I wrote a rather lengthy e-mail to his station……very respectful, but very clear. I requested that Bruce Watson make a public correction to his editorialized comments and apologize for his rudeness. I am sure neither will happen, and the station may well relish the attention this controversy has created. The MSM has invested it’s energy into entertainment over information, I await the day they meet their demise. If there is a way to promote that happening sooner rather than later, I want to be involved.
Hiya Sue, I asked for a correction too – but I won’t hold my breath. Watson is being hailed as a hero by the nutjobs today, so he’s not going to ruin his 15 minutes of fame by admitting he lied. But no harm in letting these people know we see them for what they are. Thanks Sue.
I also wrote the television station about the interview and demanded that Watson apologize to the president for lying about what he said.
You guys are great. dr
I am seeing a RACIST here….dats all I will say. Probably a bitter life she is living seeing a beautiful, loving, intelligent black man, father, husband and president is in the ‘white’ house. Oh well…*shrugs*…….
This is soo ugly! I’m 79 and have been active in politics since I first voted (for Adlai Stevenson!). I can’t remember people being so ugly and mean spirited. Her blog says more about her and her bankrupt nature than it does about our Pres. In this season of spiritual renewal, I wish her peace.
Linda Van de Riet
http://www.jeffersoncountyrepublicans.org/
Cute. Just cute. She rehashes all of the 2008 talking points intermixed with the Fox News tripe that she instantly believes, since hey, they are “fair and balanced”. You really can’t argue with these types. You really can’t. I mean, how in the hell are we going to argue with this person? Facts don’t even matter anymore. Its a belief system that these people follow.
‘Afternoon, TODers and Ms. Chip!
Understand that I am here in St. Louis. Born and bred. Therein, what this woman posted really isn’t particularly surprising. At least not to me. Missouri is NOT a liberal state (in addition….do a quick check and see when the Missouri Athletic Club permitted black and other minority membership. SERving the Club’s membership was, of course, another story). Freshly elected Roy Blunt is our new Senator (after a VERY disappointingly run campaign by Robin Carnahan. would’ve reminded one of Martha Coakley’s WEAK attempt against Scot Brown). Our other Senator? Ms. McCaskil. Because of how this state is, Claire HAS to “Blue Dog” it from time to time. I understand. But, at any point I don’t like it. PBO turned this VERY Red state “Pink”. But, McCain did win it. Her Facebook page would be about what I’d expect.
What WAS a surprise, though, was, back in ’08 with The Arch as the back drop, then Senator Obama drew 100,000 people to hear him speak. What a day that was! And, clearly, there is much work to do going forward. Therein….
I agree with you, Ms. Chip re: seeing what the other side is actually up to. We don’t need to see it full force every day. But, some reminders of how these people are actually thinking should be helpful to us.
Pointed out a little bit ago how Michelle Bachman exposed herself, during the first of the next two “show downs” to, actually, not be nearly as “bat-shit crazy” as she comes off. She started to push for compromise. She knew – and still does – the price the Republicans would/will pay if they shut down the government. It’s those people she represents!!!
Many of these people, as was written and SOO weakly reasoned by Ms. Van de Riet, honestly do think this way.
Which, in turn means that we REALLY need to know what we’re up against. NOTHING should be taken for granted. This is the “real deal” serious.
I believe a reality check from time to time is allll to the good. We must keep out focus.
As always, thank you Ms. Chip for this incredible work that you do.
Hiya Blackman, thanks so much for the really interesting insight to Missouri – and the hint about the Missouri Athletic Club’s membership record …. wow, this lady must feel right at home.
Thank you too for the reminder about that St Louis rally, I remember watching it live on the internet and gasping when I saw the size of the crowd, incredible.
As I said to Lovepolitics, I was sorry to post this hate here, but I agree with you completely, it can’t be ignored all the time.
Thank you Blackman.
Speaking for myself, I think occassionally being exposed to this is important. It’s reality, and if we are brave and strong we will approach it as such and determine constructive ways to deal with it. It is so horribly offensive, and yet I am equally dismayed that I somehow had been lulled into thinking that as a country we had grown beyond this. Being aware of it is the beginning. I know I have started confronting it in political conversations that I have been engaged in, although I am very careful not to immediately draw the “race card” just because someone disagrees with President Obama. Some genuinely good people, just don’t have practical experience with dealing with racial diversity. They sometimes don’t even recognize their own biases, let alone question and or challenge them. That has become clear to me, I hope that some of the conversations that I have engaged in that touch on race have given others an opportunity to consider some new and different perspectives. I certainly am willing to confront it, although with care.
For myself, I want to be better able to handle criticism of President Obama, fair and otherwise, without turning in to an emotional puddle of despair. It’s hard….but if the President can do it, and he is a role model to me, I can continue to find ways to better maintain my own emotional balance. I do know this, I won’t disengage, and by his example, I see lots of opportunities to learn and grow from.
We are so blessed by his leadership, by Chipsticks energy and efforts, and by the many, many good people amongst us. Lets gather strength from what is good, and work at expanding it as far and wide as we possibly can. Namaste.
“….but if the President can do it, and he is a role model to me, I can continue to find ways to better maintain my own emotional balance”
This is what we all have to commit ourselves to. I acknowledged this fact just recently here. PBO wades into the dirty abyss each and every day, in one form or another, and returns victorious just by his demeanor. It’s because he has the armor of God spiritually, and just plain intelligence and class. I’m down with PBO. We all have to be.
Uhhh, Folks….
Unless the above phone number is that of her office as an elected official…
BE VERY CAREFUL about calling her.
Regardless of how righteous we may believe ourselves to be, it could be defined as harassing.
Hi Blackman, I just deleted the phone number. Hey people, please don’t post any contact details for this creature, thanks. 😉
Will comply
😉
(But I love your passion)
🙂
Unoriginal pressed Biatch is pressed. lmao…..sucks to be her.
In more important commentary, POTUS Obama remains amazing and beautiful both inside and out. 😀
Chipsticks – I can only imagine the filth you have to wade through on a daily basis in order to keep this site as positive and clean as you do. I’m grateful to see this nonsense from these types, because it reminds me how desperate this fight is for those who seek goodness and light. There are many who are wallowing in darkness, consumed by hate, and deceiving themselves that they are somehow fighting a “godly” fight – yet, as evidenced by this woman, the hate just spews forth from them – telling us the real story. Thank God for President Obama – he faces this evil every.single.day. And thank God for you, too, Chipsticks – because clearly, you’re facing it, too.
Amen x 2!
I always admire and respect your thoughts, and the skill with which you express them. So often I feel like you are speaking my thoughts, although much more eloquently.
Thanks Sue – I felt the same way about your wonderful post a little earlier upthread. 🙂
Amen and Amen!
Hi Theo, thank you for that lovely message. You know, all these hate-mongers do is make me appreciate the good and smart people even more. I almost pity them, their lives must be an absolute misery, and all that hating must be exhausting. And they’ll be even more bitter in 2012 when the President is re-elected. Thanks Theo.
This is an excellent comment, and it expresses how I feel. You are a fantastic writer, Theo67.
I agree how hurtful these comments are sometimes they need to be shown so we can expose what is really going on behind the disrespect for our President.
Thank you for this amazing site, Chipsticks.
Simply scary the amount, and passion, of the hate out there.it’s beyond any reasoning…..it consumes people till all that’s left in them is hate. And I have to agree that so much of it is driven by racism. I only know that watching and reading this expression of hatred everyday…….and never, ever any pushback from the media or any Senator or Congressman, with a sense of decency, is heartbreaking…….thank heaven for this site and a few others…all of you restore my faith in man and I’m grateful!
This is my general philosophy about the haters: I agree with the folks saying they don’t need to read this. The haters are given plenty of attention in other places. If attention to their stupidity and hate was all that it took to put them out of business we wouldn’t be hearing about them anymore.
People complain because the Right seems to get all the press and attention and this is one reason why. The Republicans want attention whether it is negative or positive — when they get it they control the air waves. A perfect example of that is Sarah Palin. I wonder where she would be if there hadn’t been such a negative uproar over her. News groups thirsty for controversy found it with her. I think if the people who disagreed with her hadn’t given her any attention she would have fizzled out long before this because she is basically an idiot. The criticism and mockery of her fed right into her victimization message and the identification of those that support her and feel victimized.
To me, one reason President Obama won so handily in 2008 was that he had a positive message of hope. He has continued with that message of hope through his presidency and I feel that’s why he is liked so much in spite of overwhelming press coverage of the Republican right.
I like giving support to recalling Republican Senators in Wisconsin and action on bills. I think that is effective. I think we will be doing ourselves a disservice in getting the president reelected if we spent our time putting out Republican right brush fires like this. It’s ugly, but would it convince an Independent to vote for a Republican over Obama? I don’t think so.
For those of you who say — well it’s reality that the negativity exists and so we must give attention to it — there are massive amounts of attention paid to the negativity. Is it stopping it? No. And no, I don’t have to give it credence at all. President Obama and what he is doing is reality too and its factual rather than the nonsense that the Right is spouting. There are 24 hours in my day and I would much rather use that time for support for the President and his reelection.
That’s just my general operating philosophy.
Now, having said all of that, I have a great appreciation for Chipsticks and the beautiful spirit that she creates with this blog. She has to deal with seeing these comments and I assume emails too. That’s a different issue. I definitely understand you feeling upset — the person who wrote that sounds insane with fear and anger. I suspect that it will continue and increase as the election draws near. I would like to see the discussion be about how to support you. You are checking this person out and you will have an action item for us if we can contact sponsors. I really like that you include action items when you are calling people out. And, Chipsticks, I don’t want this to be confusing — I don’t want to spend all of my time doing this, but this is your amazing site and you can count me in with going after this person’s advertisers or whatever legitimate way we have to take action. It worked for Beck and it can work for her.
You have created a beautiful place here and I trust you to do what you feel is best. What can we do to support you?
“This is my general philosophy about the haters:” I would like to tell them to go to hell but they have no god or devil to believe in since they so forcefully talk SH*T!?!!!
This is a very interesting thread. I don’t have a problem with this although it hurts my heart that so many people think this way. I think we are all aware that we are surrounded by these type of people. I have a couple of suggestions.
First, Missouri can only vote on the actual day of the election. I would like to see that changed like other states. In Kansas, just over the river we can vote by mail, go to the election office and vote days ahead or vote on election day. I don’t know how that could be addressed in Missouri but I think it should. I worked with a Missouri voter and that was a difficult day with people showing up to vote at 5:00 am, with lines at least a mile long and only to find out that they didn’t have ballots when they opened the doors. The head of the Election board in Kansas City is a strong Republican and she did everything she could,at least according to my opinion, to sabatage. Kansas City and St. Louis are the democratic voters of the state. The rest is republican country. I agree with Blackman about Claire McHaskill. She is in a touchy area and has to vote in ways I abhor at times. Being so close to Missouri, I received an emergency email to come to Missouri and help out a day before the vote.
Secondly, I saw a lot of good organization getting out the vote in Texas with it’s high Latino population and I expect it will be even better this next time.
We must never forget that we must do all we can this upcoming election. We can’t hold back and think someone else is doing all the work. There are going after Obama with a vengence and we have to remain positive and reach as many people as we can. Thanks Chips. This just reinforces that there are a lot of crazies out there and they are working hard with lies to get our President out.
It is heartbreaking to see the level of hatred towards President Obama. Can these thugs honestly not see the goodness in him or it that what they are afraid of?
Thank you Chipsticks for this wonderful blog, it is an oasis of calm here along with the other pro Obama sites. Having just come from another site where I was verbally attacked by a troll for posting facts it is a blessing to be able to come here for some positivity. Even though this post was about extreme negativity towards PBO it was dealt with in a positive way in my opinion.
As someone who is battling depression at the moment it is so good to be able to find somewhere like this with all the uplifting comments, pictures and videos. Thank you once again Chipsticks.
When I said it was ‘dealt with in a positive way’ I was meaning by Chipsticks, not the vile post it’s self. Sorry if it appeared I was defending the hate filled non-entity who wrote it.
I wish you recovery from your depression, sam. I have a sister who suffers from it, and it is quite uneasy for most people to accept that their loved one(s) have the condition. Much success to you, and always come here for refreshment 😀
Thank you EDP4BHO your kindness means a lot to me. Mostly I deal with it ok but today has been a bad day. I guess that is why my comments have not been as well thought out as usual and I am being clumsy with what I am trying to say.
My heart goes out to your sister I shall keep her in my prayers as it is such an unpleasant condition – I really appreciate that you shared that with me.
I will always come to this site for ‘refreshment’ and also to support your great President. I never tire of talking about his achievements with my friends and family in the USA. Right now though it is 1.30a.m. so I guess I should turn in now. Thanks once again EDP4BHO for your kindness and Chipsticks for this site.
Personally I was offended by the words. They represent a person who chooses ignorance and hatred over respect and knowledge. That is sad and pathetic.
When I read such hateful uneducated vitriol, it reminds me of the tremendous courage and compassion of our President and I am consumed with gratefulness for him. He is and will forever be a very special spirit in our lives.
Maybe someone else has already said this, but it is extremely discouraging that two of the most hate-filled pieces getting wide circulation this week, came from women. I guess with Palin, Coulter, Malkin, Angle, ODonnell, Bachmann and other such women as role models, we were bound to see more venomous women crawl out of the woodwork.
As a retired social studies teacher, I’d advise this woman to stop showing her ignorance of American history, government, and economics. No American president can “pass” any law under the Constitution, and her ignorant behind needs to know this. She also needs to know that CNN backs the president on his response to Watson. CNN reports the following:
“President Barack Obama got into a somewhat tense exchange with a Dallas TV reporter during an interview Monday at the White House.
After the interview was over, Obama advised WFAA-TV’s Brad Watson to “let me finish my answers the next time we do an interview, all right?””

I hate when people tell lies. Watson and van de Riet are both liars who can’t debate PBO on the merits, so they have to stoop to lies and smears to make themselves feel better. As for her attack on PBO regarding his Christianity, I don’t think she knows that Jesus warned Christians NOT to use their Christianity as a tool to show the world how holy they are, so she is wrong on this, too. Lord, please deliver us and out president from these workers of iniquity.
Ezekiel 25:17 “The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.”
I didn’t read this crap from this sad woman. All I can say is these people feel threatened in some way by PBO. He has consistently ignored them and is going ahead with his agenda for the benefit of ALL Americans regardless of people like this. All I can say to this poor sad woman is that the energy she is putting out there shall return to her ten fold. Wonder what she will do come 2012. May God continue to bless and guide POTUS.
“I shall never permit myself to stoop so low as to hate any man.” —Booker T Washington on Hate
Did anyone else notice that even her depiction of “God” looks mean and vengeful. No wonder she’s so filled with hate.
I call these people possessed. Yes, like in the Exorcist movie. Vile and venom spewing from their minds….nothing but pure evil. Also, when taught that God is revengeful and cruel towards sinners, you can’t help but be vindictive. Just my little bit of psychology at play here.
What I can say is this. I’ve been watching the First Lady a lot and I have decided to make her my role model for how to conduct myself without loosing my cool. I doubt I will always maintain grace and composure the way she can. But I think I can definitely benefit by studying her attitude. I loved the way she responded to Barbara Walters on The View when she was asked how it felt to see the negativity and attacks on her husband. She just kept calm and in control and said “You’d be surprised how easy it is to push all that away”. She really put Barbara in her place I thought.
There may be nothing we can say. But I was watching Amish Grace the other night and this comforted me: “I do not want to make my heart a battleground between hate and love”. And, “Hate is a very big, very hungry thing with lots of sharp teeth and it will eat up your whole heart and leave no room left for love”. While I wasn’t a Quaker, I was fortunate to attend a Quaker school for several years. When confronted one day with words by someone I knew had a good heart, all I could do was think of God’s grace and patiently listen and remain courteous. I didn’t expect anything. All I wanted to do was just get through it. Then, all of sudden, she stopped and apologized. I didn’t know how to bring her good heart out, but God did 🙂
It’s sometimes difficult to respond to hate, but I think President Obama daily proves not only his strength of character but the strength of his faith. So that’s what I pray for: Grace. I don’t call myself a Christian anymore, but do continue praying for God’s grace for all of us today.
Beautiful sentiment, Northanger.
Thank you for your words too, Theo67. Whenever I get weary, I visit Chips, pull up a chair and get replenished. Btw, I’ve been meaning to post this site about Guardian Angels. Maybe this is a good place to put it 🙂
A lot of info here, and really interesting. I certainly believe in Angels – will have to sit down and read this article. Thanks for sharing!
It took me several tries before I was able to read her comments all the way to the end. My heart began to hurt and I just shook my head. THESE PEOPLE LIVE AMONG US. Unfortunately, this exposure is needed on occasion to remind us not to become complacent and think that because we here think alike – positively about POTUS – that we are not going to have a FIGHT on our hands that will be worse than 2004. They don’t want him to be re-elected and we will have to circle the wagons in full force. Pray without ceasing.
Reading the comments of this woman just makes me feel sick to my stomach. It goes to show you 50+ years of civil rights and there are still people who have never forgiven Democrats for letting “these people” into the mainstream, so we could eventually have such a fantastic president. Sad.
I finally finished reading all the commenst and scrolled back up – there are apparently 66 responses. I wasn’t angered by her idiocy (she obviously can’t/won’t temper her ignorance), but I am a little ticked that she actually took up so much of our time. I wonder if we shouldn’t silently and individually vow to curb ourselves in future when we read something like this. Read it (to remind ourselves that there is hatred and ignorance out there), then toss it aside (and go on to the positive discussions and reflections). I have seen wonderful, uplifting information pass by on this site with only a handful of comments. While we do need to be aware of what we are dealing with as some have said, IMO we certainly don’t need to lionize their stupidity. Maybe we should just shake our heads BRIEFLY when we see this kind of vitriol/nonsense, then give each other a hug and carry on. Just saying ….
