Jon Huntsman, President Obama’s outgoing ambassador to China, is considering running against his boss in 2012 as a Republican.

But two handwritten letters from Huntsman obtained by The Daily Caller raise the question of why he’s not campaigning for Obama instead.

“You are a remarkable leader,” Huntsman wrote to Obama in an Aug. 16, 2009 note, underlining the word “remarkable,” “and it has been a great honor getting to know you.”

The letter thanks Obama for “the graciousness and kindness you have shown me and my family – particularly your confidence in my ability to represent you in China.”….

I have only seen one video of Huntsman speaking at the last convention and he did seem incredibly dull.
It is sort of a toss up by Huntsman is going to be vulnerable on many fronts. He kind of screwed you know who. It starts with a P.

Sorry Ed, that did not read easily. Writing in haste, I kind of messed up my comment. Huntsman is definitely going to lose out. Pawlenty seems to be their boy. Young, smart enough, tough, snide, arrogant, that is the way repugs like their candidates. He is of course an ass. I cannot imagine that man being a president. I probably would have to leave the country if that dork were to be elected.

Every single time I have looked at this video I have had to laugh at its ludicrousness! Unfortunately (?)I have never been able to watch it to the end because I find the awkwardness of the speaker painful to see. Please tell me that this guy has managed to improve his delivery over the past three years ,and that the country/world will not be subjected to as pathetic a delivery should he really decide to run for president!

He don’t stand a chance in hell. Once those racists haters read this letter and see how Huntsman call the President a remarkable leader, they will never vote for him. But can you really be so upset with the guy, he was just telling the truth.

The TeaOP weren’t going to vote for him anyway. This letter is just a confirmation of what they already knew: Huntsman is an admiring part of the Obama administration and thus it is ludicrous to make him standard bearer of the Teapublicans. They were never going to let this guy out of the primaries. Too smart, too reasonable, too cultured. I think this leak is pretty funny.

Why do I get the feeling These Letters were released to Daily Caller to embarras the Obama Admin, rather than Hunstman!!!! I mean think about it, it paints the Admin as being afraid of Hunstman.(I highly doubt that)
While Hunstman comes across as someone who respected & liked his boss….

And in the unlikely event a pro-Obama person released these letters….WHY Daily Caller? It makes no sense to me. But Anyways,Who cares…. like most of you said Hunstman doesnt have a chance as long as nutjobs are voting. *Le Sigh*

How would the White House have the Clinton letter? This seems like it came out of Utah. Are all Governor letters copied and kept – these seem to be on official Gov. letterhead. Also coming out of Utah would explain why it went to the Daily Caller. Somebody in Utah doesn’t like Huntsman. Could also have Mitt’s fingers in it as Mitt can’t afford to split the Mormon vote and fundraising base.

Because the thing of it all is that the Obama Administration doesn’t need to release these letters, the man worked in President Obama’s administration and they’re already repeating that whenever Huntsman’s name is brought up.

You have a real gift for clarity. Thanks StR. And I can say that between Huntman and Pawlenty, it’s a draw on the dullness. Boring.

Personally, I think this would only upset a rabid extreme Republican. But I don’t really get the machinations of party politics. I think Huntsman seems like a reasonable Republican, but I will never again in my lifetime cast a vote for a Republican….I think they lack balance and social perspective, and money is not the singular measure of value in my world.

How would this embarrass the WH…because it was leaked? I’m not getting it, but then I don’t subscribe to the levels of immaturity, and the red meat bully tactics that seem to define Republican attitudes and actions.

Doesn’t embarrass the WH at all, lol. Even if they leaked it (which I personally doubt).

IMO this is more likely a teaparty hit job.

(quote)What was supposed to be a routine vote in the House — to knock down an amendment authored by conservative Republicans — turned into pandemonium on the House floor Friday, as Democrats tried to jam the plan through, and hang it around the GOP’s necks.”(endquote)

Here’s the interesting story of how they came up with it

(quote) The RSC is a very large bloc of conservative Republican House members. They introduced a 10-year plan for America that makes the already far-reaching House budget look fairly moderate. It was supposed to be a symbolic vote — one that allowed conservative members to go on the record in support of slashing $9 trillion in spending knowing full well it would never be adopted as the official position of the House and the Republican Party. Hoyer figured them out.

“I also knew that if we telegraphed that early, they would obviously try to anticipate it, work their caucus early,” he said. “As a result I did not have a whip meeting on this — I did discuss it with the Leader [Nancy Pelosi], I discussed it with the Democratic leadership. I told them it was my plan. And they were all for that.” (endquote)

I wasn’t familiar with The Daily Caller, which some of you were. I looked it up…it was started by Tucker Carlson, the right wing media talking head who has lost several jobs. Obviously this didn’t come from the White House. They don’t play silly games like this. For some reason Carlson thought it would embarrass the president,I guess, but it’s just a blip. It will not bother the President, nor make any dent in his support. Carlson always was holding the wrong end of the stick on TV. He was a terrible analyst, and was always a day late and a dollar short.

Even with daddy’s influence and money, Carlson could not hold a job. He worked on almost every network and still could not hold a job. I don’t know how he thinks this embarrasses the president. I have heard of his daily rag, but I have never ventured there. You are right he was a poor, poor analyst, and his instincts were always wrong. Go figure.
