at your service (video added)

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr Jill Biden photographed by Brigitte Lacombe for Parade. An interview with the First Lady and Dr Biden on their new military families initiative will run in Parade magazine on Sunday, April 24

See a preview of the interview here

PARADE: Mrs. Obama, in a recent Quinnipiac poll, their so-called National Feeling Thermometer, you got the warmest rating. You got 60.1 degrees, better than any other politician, which you’re not. The President of the United States got 56.5 degrees. So what makes you so warm and fuzzy to the American people?

FIRST LADY: Well, if people feel warmth for me, that’s a good thing. You know, I think I am a warm person. It helps that I’m able to pick issues that are really authentic to me in some way, shape, or form. And I think that’s the beauty of [my and Jill’s] roles is that issues aren’t thrown at us unlike our husbands. We get to make concrete decisions about what brings us passion. And when you’re working on anything that you care deeply about, that shines through. And perhaps that’s what people are feeling, but it’s hard to… That’s one of those embarrassing things. [laughs] Why am I so lovable?

Just watched FLOTUS’ speech. It was so moving. I think she had tears in her own eyes. I think if she had gone one talking any longer, she would have started to cry. I think when PBO went up to her at the end, he teased her about it. AHHHH I love her so much. Her and Jill on a road trip. I’d pay to see that 😉 Love VP-JB too. he’s great, you could tell he sorta teased Michelle there at the end too. I really love those four people. They are a good team!!!

Oh-oh. Sorry guys, let me clear up any confusion. I posted my comments and then re-read it and realized that I used I think way too often, so I posted again to make fun of myself. instead of writing “how many times can YOU start a sentence with I think……”, I should have written ‘I’.

I listen to the First Lady speak and WOW, she is wonderful! I said before that this President knows that he is blessed to have such a intelligent, lovely, caring woman by his side. Michelle and Barack Obama, WOW! We are so blessed. I am so darn proud of our First Lady, and Jill Biden also. What can I do to help the military families?

Oh, I missed it. Please post video when it becomes available, Chip. Thank you.

Our first ladies are beautiful inside and out. Man, our country is blessed to have 4 amazing people at the helm. Truly blessed. Too bad most of us don’t realize that.

That picture of Michelle and Jill on the cover of Parade Magazine is loverly. I am struck by the image of Jill’s arm around Michelle’s waist and Michelle’s hand resting on Jill’s arm. There is no daylight between these two remarkable women. The genuine love and affection between them is wonderful to see. They have a partnership and a bond that surpasses anything I have seen in previous administrations.

Michelle’s and Jill’s speeches were great. This is a BFD and no media outlet carried it Live. What a shame.

Right . No media outlet carried it. These women and this cause is beyond politics. Each and everyone of us can reach out and do something for our service men and their families!

Yes, wouldn’t you think this meaningful initiative by our First Lady and Dr. Jill would be more important than the latest outrageous claim by Donald Trump? The news media seems to never want us to see all the good that is being done by this administration. They always cut off President Obama after a couple minutes if they show him at all. I always wonder, ‘what are they afraid of?—that we’ll see something good?’

      April 12, 2011 at 6:11 pm

You know why they didn’t carry it, there were no controversy, and that is what the media loves. They loves something like Donald Trump, even though they know Trump is full of alot of B.S.

I love you, too, Michelle and Jill. Thanks for putting the needs of military families on the map. My family is a military family, and I know Jill’s son was a JAG. You ladies are an inspiration to many of us.

By the way, I appreciate the President’s effort to enlist Gen. McChrystal to this cause. I know he made a mistake in the past but many of us respect him. I respect the President even more for recognizing the value of all people to securing the well-being of our troops when they return home. I like the fact that this President puts people first, and doesn’t take the slings and arrows personally.

That’s what I like our President. He doesn’t demonize someone simply because they made a mistake, or because they are from a different political persuasion.

Plus their arms and legs aren’t too bad.

We are so lucky, so blessed to have two such couples serving in the highest offices in our land. The honest, unforced affection, appreciation, and respect that they all have for each other is remarkable. They all love people and have striven throughout their lives to serve them in their various positions.

I feel as if we are on the cusp of a new golden age.

The two couples are as unselfish as I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing. Only WH people who ever came close if not exactly as, are the Carters. Hmmm. Why is it we can only say this about the Democrats? 😀

Michelle Obama was absolutely phenomenal in that speech. No wonder President Obama and the Bidens are so proud of her. President Obama, Joe and Jill Biden spoke beautifully too.

Those four people are a tremendous gift to America. Have you EVER seen a team of such caliber in the White House ? They have it all. Brains, knowledge, heart and soul. And on top of that, they love each other. Watching the four of them in the same setting makes you feel so grateful and so hopeful.

    Did I say I LOVE them ?

Thanks for your lovely comments, Lovepolitics2008. No, I am 66 years of age, and I have been following Presidents since Kennedy, and I have NEVER seem this caliber of a team in the Whitehouse. This is a beautiful team who love this country, love the people, and are working hard to make it a better place for all of us to enjoy. This is an exceptional team Obama/Biden. We are so blessed to have them serving their country with poise, compassion, intellect, humblness, and love. We thank you Mr. President and First Lady Michelle Obama. We thank you Vice-President Biden and Second Lady, Dr. Jill Biden. God bless and keep you all in his loving care.

These ladies are not only beautiful on the outside but also more importantly exude beauty on the inside. They have raised the cause of the military to a new level which is remarkable and have husbands who love them more than words can speak. Since when in the WH have we been fortunate enough to have four fulltime leaders working for our nation. A blessing.

Have we ever see so many loving hugging kissing First and Secound couples in our lifetime. Great rolemodels.

WOW..I already feel sorry for the first & second couple who succeed the Obamas and Bidens. The bar is just set so high. When was the last time we saw the first and second ladies with such a genuine partnership and friendship? And don’t get me started on VP Joe Biden. Best Vice President EVER!!!

I was just thinking that myself. As far back as I really remember – Presidents and VP’s and their families – I don’t remember any being this active or working so closely together. I could not tell you most VP’s wives names let alone anything they have done. These couples seem to really like each other and have a lot in common. The love these husbands have for their wives is also wonderful to see.

Amen, Loc1. These two families seem to be the real hard working team who is not just there for the ride. President Obama and Vice President Biden have to beautiful and intelligent women to help them create a lovely place in history for us to enjoy. I am trying now to just relax and enjoy them each and every day God gives me life. Now we can start with our hard work, but we will try so hard to support each other and lift each other up daily if we have the wonderful gift of seeing this President re-elected. I pray for those years to be given to me to enjoy this Presidency. I have NEVER see such a hard working, on the move, always a step ahead of it all, and still giving us that beautiful smile with the intelligence to match. We have a beautiful gift in our team, and we will support them.
Also, thank you Chipsticks again for our lovely haven here. You work so hard to keep it a peaceful and positive place to share on the issure and family news. Thanks so much!!!!

Such passion and commitment of these people to their spouses and their roles are so inspiring. The most inspiring thing is that this is just a continuation of what they were doing as ‘everyday folks’. Obama/Biden 2012!!
