see you later

Hi people, I have to go for a few hours but will update the day’s news later. Meanwhile, don’t forget this:

It’s only an audio feed on the White House site, but hopefully a channel or two will have live pictures.

See you later 😉

I caught the tail end of the speech on CNN. I really like that he is going forward with presenting his approach, even while faced with complete obstruction and obtuseness in Congress. He’s got great ideas, but Congress is the roadblock.

I also like this new apporach of delivering the same message repeatedly. While those of us listening and paying attention are hearing these messages many times over, the same message is reaching a much broader group – more consistently. It would be different if he had a nation of curious and interested people who valued making progress more highly than scoring points, but that’s not the case. When he started, he did a ton of different stuff at the same time – and the media and the lazy squealed that he was all over the place, doing too much. The fact is, four or eight years is really not that much time to move an entire nation, especially when you’ve got campaigning for midterms and presidencies mixed into that timeline. It is tantamount to having about 2.5 years of freedom to govern without politics – and with this current batch of Republicans and Democrats, they’ve been politicking the whole time, and not so interested in governing. This new political style of communicating will serve him well and when he gets to his second term, it will be lovely to see him finally fully unleashed.
