‘weekly jobless claims down slightly’

MSNBC: Fewer Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week, suggesting the labor market healing is becoming entrenched and employers may be stepping up hiring.

The Labor Department says the number of people seeking benefits dropped 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 382,000 in the week ended March 19, the fourth drop in the past five weeks. The four-week average, a less volatile measure, fell to 385,250, the lowest since July 2008.

Applications have dropped steadily since late January. The four-week average has dropped almost 11 percent in the past seven weeks.

Applications need to fall consistently to about 375,000 or below to indicate a sustained increase in hiring. Applications peaked during the recession at 651,000.

Today my son applied for unemployment again. He was denied in January and again was denied an opportunity to get unemployment after being laid off in January from “Levis”.
Is this some kind of tactic the employment security commission office is using to make a favorable report. I’m a democrat I voted Obama and believe he has been doing as good a job as possible under the circumstances his administration encounters. I’m just curious as to why they aren’t accepting an application from someone who meets all the criteria to be eligible for unemployment.
