My wishes, too! I hope they enjoy themselves, accomplish a lot, and that nothing more happens around the world while they’re away.

I was hoping that we would see the First Family leaving on their trip to Brazil. The girls and even grandmother to keep the President and First Lady company.
Farewell to our beautiful First Family and may God Bless and Protect them while they are away from home.

I was goggling and came across this on a Brazilian Blog:

“The Brazil is honored with the presence of the President’s greatest power on Earth.
President Obama is a man possessed of a phenomenal charisma, friendly, cheerful, more like the Brazilians than Americans……”

I sorta like that our president is viewed ‘more like’ the people he’s visiting than “real merrikans!” No wonder the Wingnuts hate him; he’s too charismatic, friendly, and cheerful to be “real.”

I really hope they have a nice time. They deserve it. And I hope the President shows these hateful idiots that he can do his job weither he is in the White House or any other country. All those who love to crictize him would crictize him where ever he is. I know the President made a tough decision concerning Libya. You already have some people getting on his case. You dam if you do, you’re dam if you don’t. Continue to pray for the President and his family.

Safe and Happy travels First Family ๐Ÿ™‚ And Malia, oh my goodness, she’s growing so fast and tall and lovely- at 12.

I’m so looking forward to the reception they’ll receive from the Brazilians.. now watch while some really knuckleheaded repub/cheney/dem (pick one).. says something very very foolish about POTUS while he’s out of the country (I mean more knuckleheaded than usual ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love Sasha, but I have to admit Malia is a complete stunner. I know sometime back she wanted to be a fashion model, which she certainly could be, but the parents are not so pleased with that concept. Having read some books on the fashion industry, I hope she refrains. It is an ugly business. With her parents, you know she has got to have some big time brains.

Yes they are beautiful children, aren’t they. About Malia.. Their family friend, who’s name I can’t recall at the moment (he’s the guy who was photographed crying during POTUS’ Race Speech).. says they call Malia “the Oracle”… I think that tells us plenty about how smart and gifted she may well be :). I’m looking so forward to how these young ladies grow up, what they choose to do with their lives- I think both will enhance our country greatly down the road- hope I’m still alive to enjoy it.

Sheri, I won’t let them spoil this trip for ME, by giving them another thought! They get enough attention when he is home. Frankly, I enjoy when the President is travelling because as noted in an entry above, I get to see him being praised and courted as he deserves.

Don’t even know where to start. All the Obama-Robinson ladies look beautiful. Love Sasha’s shoes and coat and I spy the same yellow skirt she wore to meet the King and Queen of Spain. Malia is lovely as always (I wonder if she’s embarrassed to be semi-matching with her baby sister). Michelle looks fione and Mrs Robinson looks very elegant.

Does anyone recall ever being at all interested in the Bush’s departures from and arrivals to the WH? Any picture galleries from their vacations? Can anyone imagine looking forward to photo galleries of “President” Pawlenty, Romney, Gingrich or Donald Chump on their business and/or leisure travels? That’s not even counting the disastrous policy decisions they will be making…

Hopefruit 2, I never watched the landings or arrivals of any President. I watch as much as I can on our President and the happenings in the White House at home and at work. Now that I have a laptop computer I get less sleep which sucks…

The woman carrying the green bag is “Mama Kaye.” She twist Malia’s hair, and I believe she is the girls’ God mother, plus she is Mrs. Marian’s friend too.

Save trip Obamas!! I wonder if Malia is embarassed by her mom still holding her hands at age 12 going on 13? anyways they all have a great relationship and you could see it. They ALL love lovely and Malia is soooo tall it makes her look older! Mr President get secret service ready because boys will be looking.

Their affection for each other looks very real and genuine to me. I don’t get a read that she is embarrassed. Looking at the photos of Barack down thread…I see alot of Sasha in her Father at that very young age. As someone who experienced a 4 inch growth spurt between 7th and 8th grade, Malia easily could end up being as tall or even a little taller than her Dad. You know he is already immensely proud of his girls, both lovely, lovely young ladies. Any young man with a serious romanctic interest in these girls, is going to have go through Dad, they better bring their A game.

Marty Nesbitt was the friend that said they call Malia the “oracle”, because of her intelligence and cognitive faculties, he said she was possibly even more brilliant than her Dad…….that’s a whole lot of BRIGHT!

I hope this trip is a fun adventure for the whole family, productive for the POTUS and FLOTUS……and they return home safely filled with remarkable experiences and memories.

        March 19, 2011 at 7:55 am

I agree Sue!!! 12 going on 13 is still very much a child even though a very tall and mature one with the wisdom and comportment beyond her years!!! I think Malia actually looks like she likes to hold her mother’s hand. She appears to be very shy too.

I remember then Senator Obama telling the story of how he came home from D.C one weekend and took little Malia for a bike ride or something on a Saturday morning. On their way home she was deep in thought and he asked her what was on her mind.

Malia asked her dad if they were rich and he was taken aback and asked her why she asked. She said she really didn’t want to be rich, she wanted their family to be normal or something so sweet and down to earth like that!!! It was the so touching!!!

I am not American. Is it protocal that the president must walk first followed by his family? And i’m not speaking about official ceremonies where the leaders must walk infront of their spouse. I just wanted to know because Mrs. Robinson always seem to be behind her daughter and PBO coming out of the WH. Never seen a photo of her walking side by side and maybe holding onto one of her grandaughter’s hand. Just would love to see more public interactions between Mrs Robinson and her grand babies!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Mrs. Marian, tends to let the Obamas “do their thing,” because I recall reading that she even eats dinner by herself.

      March 19, 2011 at 12:15 am

There was a picture when they went to Chicago the first time, and they had just landed at O’Hare and were walking to the chopper – Mrs. Robinson was walking next to the President, and the two of them were at the back of the group together.

    • March 19, 2011 at 12:21 am

I’m guessing there’s some protocol to it alright, P, probably to do with the President being first to Marine One and Air Force One to salute whatever military are on duty. And Mrs Robinson, from everything I have ever read about her (or taken from interviews with her), is extremely camera shy, she never wants to be the focus when in public – so usually you see her shyly and quietly making her way back and forward to Marine One/Air Force One! There’s no doubting the love and respect, though:

My candles are lit and my music is playing softly as I say a prayer for our First Family and friends as they travel. I see my favorite Secret Serviceman is going on this trip. I like him a lot. I pray for our POTUS to be focus, and filled with wisdom as he meets with each leader.
I also ask God to give all who are traveling with them protection, safety, peace, and alterness. I pray that they will have a great time. The people seem to be waiting to meet our precious President and FLOTUS!!! It is wonderful to see other countries treat our President with love, excitement, and respect. Maybe one day the negative people will wake up and see this wonderful gift of a President that we have. I know that I am grateful. Have a wonderful trip Mr. President and First Family.
