First – shame on Rachel for trying to slam the President this way. Second, I hope her and Ed Schultz, and the rest of the PL, heard loud and clear from Trumka that the President is not the enemy – and the union struggle is not just another opportunity to bash the President. It’s about real lives that are being toyed with and devastated by the Governors who are supposed to cherish their workers, who are doing a service for this country.

I don’t want to listen. I can see from the pic and the headlines. Thank you Mr. Trumka. I’m glad the union understands how important it is to maintain good relations with the president and Dems.

I am okay with the way she raised the question. Trumpka was able to reinforce what our President has stated openly, and highlight that he has maintained the appropriate space, enabling the real power source of this movement, the people(electorate). Our President has always attempted to awaken in us, the ability we possess to effect change. It’s not a goal reached by sitting on the sidelines. This is the perfect petri dish for people to recognize and engage their potential, collective power. This battle is just beginning….I feel as Americans, not only that we can do this, but that we must. I would also add, I think Trumpka is an effective and good leader for the unions, and I believe he and the President enjoy a strong and mutually respectful relationship.

I listened, and RM was her same ol’ presumptuous self. Mr. Trumpka handled himself and the matter appropriately. I think even he realizes that POTUS is one who shows by example the strengths and abilities we all have should we just look deep within and harness our God-given powers. The work of governing is not a solo effort, it takes all of us….in our homes, our communities and schools, even in our work places….to effect change. As POTUS has always said, he can’t do it alone. These non-progressive types and rethugs have unwittingly made President Obama into a god, and they call us sheep?

You all have given great points. I don’t have anything to add except to reinforce that “We are the Ones” This is what POTUS has been trying to tell us all along. I respect Trumka and am impressed with his overall response to Walker. That Walker has accommplished what the unions have been trying to do for the last 20 years. Community action. We have the power. As Michelle would say, “Let get movin.”
