stepping up

ABC: With organized labor under attack in the states, the president of the Service Employees International Union today praised President Obama’s role in the fight, saying the administration “has stepped up” to offer the full weight of their support.

“Our members in Wisconsin and Ohio were incredibly proud when the president spoke out about the real agenda in Wisconsin and Ohio being about eliminating workers’ voice and busting unions,” SEIU President Mary Kay Henry told us on ABC’s “Top Line” today.

“And that was a huge step forward. We then saw the Secretary of Labor issue a statement and then an op-ed and then do a speech that said union is in her family – that we have to have a way to solve problems at the collective bargaining table.”

“So we think the administration has stepped up in this moment. And that it’s up to us, the people all across this country, to hold our government accountable and get the private sector to reinvest in America.”

Thank you too, Cat48, for bringing this to our attention. Now we can share this with those who say, ‘the president isn’t..yada, yada’.

This is important…I hope Ed Schultz and those insisting the President jump in the middle of the movement are not only listening, but are rethinking their public positions.

I read the comments section to this article. Three are negative but I think I’ll post the fourth one here.

If you have Saturday off, thank a union.
If you get paid time and half for overtime, thank a union.
If your 13 year old son isn’t working in a sweat shop, thank a union.
If the machine your working with has guards to keep you from chopping off your fingers, thank a union.
If you don’t have to work more than 40 hours per week, thank a union
If you get minimum wage, thank a union.

So many people don’t realize what unions have done for Americans.

Reports from the Lawrence O’Donnell show, it appears that Gov Walker is succumbing to the pressure behind closed doors…stay tuned…

Don’t turn you back on Walker. Stay focused, united and don’t give up.

Thank you SEIU and other unions. Thank you for having the president’s back while others are trying to sh*t stir in your relationship with Dems and the WH.

Although the talking heads won’t admit it, this is another one that PBO played just right! They run their mouths without knowing, or realizing, just how much work our president does behind the scenes. This is why I stopped listening to them and/or taking anything they have to say seriously over 2 years ago.
