ha, the nutjobs dug this ‘photo’ out again today

They’re original, aren’t they? Although not as original as the non-photoshopped version of the pic – which was darkened (oh yes), flipped and cigarette-ized:

Museum of Hoaxes: In early 2008 the top photo began circulating online, showing Obama with a cigarette in his mouth. It is not real. The original photo (bottom) was taken by Kwame Ross on Aug. 3, 2004 while then-State Sen. Obama met with constituents at the University of Illinois while campaigning to become a U.S. Senator. An unknown hoaxer digitally added the cigarette into the photo.

Oh dear.

hair-dye-gate

Okay, as you know, I like to deal with the burning issues of the day here – no, no: not the economy or Egypt, hair dye.

Right, these are the photos from January 19 that were taken as proof – PROOF!! – that the President dyes his hair. The one on the left is the President attending a meeting with President Hu of China in the morning; the one on the right is the President (under lights) at that night’s state dinner.

Um, also from that evening:

Okay, that’s that investigation complete. Woodward and Bernstein eat yer hearts out.

remember this?

New Orleans, October 2009

I was thrilled to receive an email from Lisa, the mother of that beautiful little boy, Tyren Scott, tonight:

“The question that Bill O’Reilly asked: ‘Why do so many people hate you?” Well, my son asked that question at 10 years old, but in a loving way. My son’s question was: “Why do people hate you when they should love you – GOD IS LOVE.”

As I told Tyren’s mother, “When I watched the interview with O’Reilly and heard him ask that ‘hate’ question I genuinely, truthfully thought of your little boy – and how he asked the President a similar question, but, as you put it, in a loving way. O’Reilly asked it in a spiteful, vicious way, like it was the President’s ‘fault’ for provoking such feelings from people who, frankly, hate him largely because of the color of his skin. The contrast between your boy and O’Reilly was just stunning.”

Tyren’s Mom’s next email: “Tyren received letters at his school from people all over the nation. Look at how our President talked to my son like they were the only ones in the room. President Obama is a caring man.”

Lisa sent me photos of her son with the President – can’t thank her enough.

MSNBC: Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has recovered enough from a bullet to the brain to ask for toast with breakfast. Few details are available, but Pia Carusone, Giffords’ chief of staff, confirmed that the congresswoman made the verbal request on Monday when hospital workers at TIRR Memorial Hermann brought her a meal…

Though small, the request marks a milestone for the congresswoman … In a Facebook update on Tuesday, her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, said that Giffords is eating three meals a day and enjoying it, “even though it’s hospital food.”

Doctors at Giffords’ Houston rehabilitation center on Tuesday said that she’s recovering well and that they hope she can make enough progress to attend her husband’s space shuttle launch in April.

….”The doctors say she is recovering at lightning speed considering her injury but they aren’t kidding when they say this is a marathon process,” Kelly wrote on Facebook. “There are encouraging signs every day, though.”

Reuters: President Barack Obama’s approval ratings inched up again this month as Americans grew slightly more optimistic about the economy and the future, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.

Obama’s job approval rating rose to 51 percent from 50 percent in January … continuing an upward trend since October’s low of 43 percent.

The improvement for Obama came as the economy showed signs of improvement … the jobless rate dipped to 9 percent in January from 9.4 percent the month before, completing a 0.8 percentage point drop since November that was the biggest two-month decline since 1958.

…Americans are feeling more confident about the future as the economy improves, the poll found … “The more positively people feel about the economy, the better they feel about Obama,” Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said.
