When Obama entered Harvard, he didn’t think he was up to the level of his classmates. “But when I was elected head of the Law Review I figured I was just as capable. And now that I’ve been in the Senate a month I realize the same thing.” Within a year and a half he would extend the point to potential rivals for the presidency. In less than four years he could hold his own with anyone in the world. Source: Jonathan Alter’s book on Obama

Jonathan Alter’s book, right? So many great behind the scenes information. I also loved the way Axe talked about his confidence. In essence, the president is so confident, that he does not have to talk down to others and does not feel the need to act superior.

That is the funny thing. It is his confidence in himself that the crazies look at as being gutless. They do not understand that Obama has no need to belittle or shout, because he is not threatened. He is a Zen master.

His self mastery is why I find him to be such an enlightened and remarkable human being. I know he is a role model to me as to the potential and ability we each possess to achieve self actualization. That combined with the understanding that we are all interconnected and that we must subscribe to the Golden Rule in thought and practice is my perscription for how we make our lives both meaningful and optimal. Simple and at the same time challenging.

He is quite a bit younger than I, but I to look up to him. He truly makes me want to be a better person.

Oh Dorothy, he is 6 years younger than me……but I’ll keep working on myself no matter, and he is an outstanding role model. I just don’t think we ever loose our ability to expand.

Graciouslady, you are kind to say so….thank you. When I reread my comments, I sometimes am struck by how stuffy they seem. I’m really not stuffy in the least, just a bit challenged by expressing my feelings in writing.

Axe’s biggest worry, acc to Alter’s book, was that Obama was too psychologically healthy “not pathological enough to be president.”

The mark of true intelligence and leadership is the ability to admit that you don’t know everything and are willing to listen and learn until you do.
    Obama is the Master.

I am 9 years older than he and I call him my role model on earth, along with my parents (may they rest in eternal peace). I believe this is another reason I “stalk” him..LOL. He inspires me by his resolve, fascinates me by his patience, entertains me with his humor, enchants me with his romance of his wife. And above all, his intelligence is remarkable. I am just Obama-stupid, as a friend of mine describes herself. 😀

Well said, both of you! We’ll have to generate a positive strand of meaning for the word ‘stalk’, because the Obama stalkers (I’m one) mean him absolutely no harm. They are just eager to learn from this master.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THE INTELLIGENCE MISTAKE RE: EGYPT….THEY NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB FOR THIS PRESIDENT. AS MASSIVELY ORGANIZED AS THESE DEMONSTRATIONS WERE OVER THE INTERNET…THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE TO MISS. INTELLIGENCE HAS BEEN CALLED ON THE CARPET BEFORE…YOU WOULD THINK IN A POST 9/11 WORLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD HAVE A HANDLE ON IT. I QUESTION…WHY NOT??????
