WSJ: The Senate on Wednesday voted 51-47 against repealing the health-care overhaul but approved a measure eliminating a tax requirement that had irked small businesses.

All of the chamber’s Democrats who were present and one independent who caucuses with them voted against it, and every Republican voted for it…

Wednesday’s voting produced a small change to the health law, though. The Senate voted 81-17 to remove a piece of the law that calls for businesses to file a 1099 tax form when they pay a vendor more than $600 in a year.

President Barack Obama has indicated he would sign the tax-change measure, and the House already approved a similar bill. The change will be the most significant so far to the law, designed to expand insurance to 32 million Americans.

….Wednesday’s vote against repeal means that a Republican repeal bill, which passed the House last month, is now effectively dead in Congress.

Two senators, Democrat Mark Warner of Virginia and independent Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, missed the day’s votes.

Meanwhile Ronald Reagan’s former Solicitor General, Harvard Law Professor Charles Fried, and New York University law professor Rick Hills (a “registered Republican and outspoken conservative”), believe the health care mandate is constitutional – which is bad news for Tea Party Judge Roger Vinson in Florida.

Just don’t let that stuff bother you, just flick it away. I also loved when he swatted the fly. The repub should have taken the warning from that. He is one cool pappa who is going to pick his battles.

This picture is wonderful. I think it was just a few weeks ago when the Muslims stood guard outside the Coptic Christians church for their Christmas service because terroists had killed the Coptic Chrisitans. There were many there including Musims mothers, children, teenagers, adult men, old women. The Coptics are just paying back and supporting their neighbors. Beautiful.

Egypt’s Muslims support Coptic Christians on religious holiday

European Coptic churches are on high alert following the New Year’s Day bombing of a Coptic church in Alexandria, Egypt.Egyptian Muslims attended Christmas services Friday in a show of solidarity with Coptic Christians days after a bombing killed 23 congregants in the country’s north.

Coptic Christians celebrate Christmas Day according to the Julian calendar, and observed it on Friday this year.

Security was tight around churches after the blast on New Year’s Day outside the Church of the Two Saints in Alexandria.

In other words, Egyptians for Egyptians all. Shame so many Americans couldn’t possibly be so magnanimous. What a beautiful sight to behold.

I am so proud of our democrats for pulling together to thwart this attempt by republicans to repeal the ACA!!! They were celebrating when the House passed their legislation to repeal the ACA, and they were celebrating when Judge Vinson ruled the entire law unconstitutional. I am looking forward to their reaction to this successful move by the dems to stop the repeal. Fox showed the event live. I wonder if the non-news network cut off the live stream when it discovered that the republicans were not going to be successful in their attempt to repeal the law since that is their usual tactic when something occurs that the network movers and shakers don’t like.

I to remember this 🙂 Sitting here smiling thinking back. I believe President Obama is still the same way about his naysayers. When ever he hit an obstacle it seems it make him more determined to go for whatever it is and win. I love that about him. If he see a path he take it and run, but I remember Michelle saying in an interview that he do know what he don’t know and what he can’t do. Therefore that is when he will compromise. I’m proud of our Democrats today. They stayed lockstep.

Do you remember that Geraldine F., miss almost VP, went ape over the brush it off? What was it she said? Oh, now I remember, Obama was belitting her. He was a sexist. Man, there was some crazy stuff going on.

      • February 3, 2011 at 12:07 am

I do remember it, and the media could not figure out what the brush off meant LOL I laughed at them so hard. The same with the fist bump LOL I think at that time is when the media figured out that they had a different kind of Presidential candidate. A young hip candidate that was up with the times. I laughed thinking they must of asked each other what was that? And why did he do that etc… And today they still don’t get our President. He is like the new toy, so everything he do is news, no matter how simplistic something is.

I’m late and missing in action, but HALLELUJAH! Mr. President, and Democratic Senators, I salute you all. Republicans can go to hell with their crap. That minor change is so pitiable. Just anything, anything to try and claim victory. So sad.

I got into work late today, 2/3/11, was bringing up this site, turned on my radio and heard the Temptations “Get Ready”. I immediately felt that song pertained to our president, because he is ALWAYS ready. You go Mr. President.
