flashback … “i’m not going to the back anymore”

Thank you Sue in Minnesota 😉

Virginia Shelton, 105, of Ashland, a retired nurse, was surprised to learn that she would not be going to a senior center today. Instead, she is among the guests attending the president’s appearance at a South Richmond recreation association.

Shelton turned 105 on Sept. 8. She said that on her birthday she received a “wonderful” letter from First Lady Michelle Obama.

Shelton believes the mayor of Ashland arranged for her invitation to Obama’s event … Asked what advice she might have for Obama, Shelton said: “As long as he tells the truth, keeps looking up and keeps Christ in his life,” he will be fine. “Take the JC pill and you’ll get to 105,” she said.

I remember this and I absolutely love it! What a remarkable story. Ms. Shelton looks great for her age.
“I liked him fine. Cuz’ I kissed him today.” 😀 This once again proves that women of all ages swoon over our President. Hehe.

Isn’t she the best! It boggles my mind to consider the changes she has witnessed over 105 years.

I was so lucky to grow up in a family of elders who had quick minds and good memories. I loved listening to my grandmother who lived to be 104 and still read the newspaper with a big manifying glass. My sister and I started our Family Tree when we retired and we go back to the 1600 in Virginia and 1710 in North Carolina. The survivor of the Indian Wars on both sides.

I laugh when I hear these Teabagger talk about our founding fathers, you know they are ignorant of our country’s history.

How wonderful for you. I never knew my father’s mother, and my mother’s mother died in her 60s. It must be so great to have that walking, talking history to carry with you. May you inherit her long life and wisdom.
