Statement by the President on the 38th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision:

“Today marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption. And on this anniversary, I hope that we will recommit ourselves more broadly to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

Unless you have a uterus, you have no say in what I do with mine.

Agreed. If you have a uterus, you can have an opinion, That’s it.

    If you don’t, STFU.

Yes, cuz don’t forget fellow uterus-holders like Sharon Angle who thinks we should have the rapist’s baby and make “lemonade.”

Sharon Angle et al, are free to keep their “rape” babies. I respect their freedom, now they need to respect mine to personal choice.
We should be well past this debate, at least in my mind.

Apparently, abolishing abortion is the next priority on the right wing agenda of destruction. Of course, no mention of what they plan to do with all those unintended births, especially since they want to cut public education and social programs which would help single mothers take care of those children.

I agree Theo67. This is something those rats are going to work very hard to try and limit the use of abortions. Most likely sneak it into a bill that the Dems want passed. Mitchell, the turtle, will do everything he can to be destructive.

To be honest, I worry about it getting to the supreme court again. With the right wing justices, who knows what they would do.

As for Mr. Rick Sanctimonious, he is a louse.

As an AA woman, I still don’t understand what ole Rick meant by his condescending comment about President Obama. I really do, but I can’t believe he went there ;o(

he basically said that as BLACK (well biracial) man that President Obama should NOT (and it’s not as if Mr Obama is imposing his pro-choice opinions of the rest of of Ricky’s people considering the President has talked about the need for single women and women in general to work in order to be able to care for themselves and their children in case they were pregnant) but he slick Ricky and his kind should and can 😡

I apologize since I don’t want to insult anyone on this great site 😦

        Fred,

I’m black and female, and I never think that telling the truth about anything should be taken as an insult. I noticed Santorum went onto Pox and doubled down on his attacks by saying that NO black man should be pro-choice. To me, this is an insult. I don’t make a habit of trying to make others believe that I know what’s best for them, and neither should Santorum. He’s as bad as Randall Terry who has vowed to run as a democrat for president so that he can “embarrass” PBO. I don’t get whatever it is that Terry and Santorum are trying to accomplish by attacking the president on the subject of abortion since the man has been saying the SAME thing since he ran for president. IMHO, you can’t embarrass anyone about their opinion on an issue. All you can do is stand up and holler really loud, which is what Santorum and Terry are doing. And neither one of these dudes made an issue of asking GWB to abolish abortion during the 6 years that he and the republicans controlled the government a few short years ago, so I question whether they’re as eager to repeal Roe v. Wade as they would like people to think. I’m not buying it. I don’t like abortion, but I’ll be the last person to tell another woman what to do with her own body.

They have no interest in abolishing anything…

These are great wedge issues, useful and effective tools to wield when all else fails and they need to court and exploit the same old groups who are also looking for convenient cover for voting against their best interests…

Seems I’ve confused Mr. Rick Sanctimonious’s face for his ass, as that’s what he’s been talking out of.

Mr. Sanctimonious has no practical experience or knowledge of what it is to be a black man, or a woman, therefore he can not make a credible argument for either. His argument comes off as both racist and misogynistic, neither of which warrant our respect, let alone our ears. Congratulations Mr. Santorum, you have just insulted a whole lot of Americans with your ignorant thinking and insolent remarks.

As always, President Obama is just spot on…
