It’s beyond belief Fred, isn’t it? And I must say I’d be a lot slower to give Wilson the credit Rachel gave him – yes, fair enough, he didn’t approve of these guns, but it was his disgusting “you lie” outburst that heightened this atmosphere of contempt for the President, and made companies like this think it was okay to do this kind of thing. And, of course, Wilson profited from it – I don’t rememeber him returning all those donations he received from Teabaggers at the time. Uggh, it makes me sick.

I had the same reaction. I would have a lot of difficulty expressing any kind of gratitude to Joe You Lie Wilson. His despicable decision to shout the lie, “You lie”, contributed to and elevated the hate and fear and animosity toward President Obama. When I read this gun news a few days ago, it was just one of those stories where you again question the sanity and depth of bigotry and hate in a segment of our population. The message of putting that inscription next to the gun registration number and used as a marketing tool is not very well disguised.

I’m surprised they took it off the market.

I’m surprised any republican did something positive like this since Rush hasn’t given his okay.

True Tally! They’ll probably put it back on the market having decided they won’t allow the ‘Marxist’ suppress their consitutional right to inscribe-messages-of-hate-on-guns. Sigh.

I don’t mean to sound unforgiving (I lie!), but Joe Wilson should get a pat on the back for thanking these manufacturers for removing the gun part commemorating his execrable comment from the shelves? Should any of them be praised–not for apologizing, mind you–but for thinking about their sorry-a$$ed reputations and bottomlines? As chipsticks points out, he not only did not give the money back, but used his comment as a fundraising tool. He also didn’t criticize the enshrinement of his words, even though he–ostensibly–apologized for using them. And all of this “in light of the assassinations this week” these good ol’ boys have removed their hateful call to arms–until when? Soon as the spotlight on them dims? Soon as the funerals are over, then back to their hateful, lying, propagandizing against not only the President and his party–but against civil disagreement and the unity of the country at large?

Sure wish I were more like President Obama! Then, I would “change,” Tracy.

I agree. What Wilson SHOULD have done was call that company and admonish and rebuke them for even THINKING of doing that in the first place.

IMHOP, that’s one of those “throw a rock and hide your hand” moves on Joe Wilson’s part. I think we’ll be seeing more of this type tactic now that SP and others have been soundly called out for their hateful vitriol.

I am in agreement with many here, the original actions of Joe Wilson should have been heaped with scorn, instead of being excused away. We have a right to expect that our elected officials conduct themselves in a manner that reflects a higher standard. To whom much is given, much is expected.
I would have liked to have seen this go a step further and a recall of the imprinted guns be required. IMO, there is no way to suggest that the intentions behind the thoughts and actions that produced these guns was anything short of nefarious.

    The gun is a disgrace.
