a fuss about flip-flops? seriously?!

Shine: …..last week, while on holiday in Hawaii, President Barack Obama may have boldly gone where no president before him had gone while on vacation: he wore flip-flops. In public.

….. news outlets, style watchers, and even historians have labored extensively over the appropriateness of Obama’s footwear choice.

“I can’t say I’ve seen a president’s toes before,” presidential historian Jane Hampton Cook told the New York Post. “But I don’t think this is a big deal. Your footwear belongs to the occasion. If you’re on the beach buying your daughter snow cones, I don’t think you can beat him up for this.”

June Ambrose, a celeb fashion stylist agrees: “When he’s serving in office he’s in the right attire. It’s not like he came to address the State of the Union in flip-flops. This is his personal time and I think he’s entitled to have a human experience. This is what keeps him grounded and very in touch with what’s going on in this country.”

…”Someone who is of a different time won’t understand the flip-flops,” said Ambrose. “This is a modern day perspective. I think that anyone who’s going to have a strong opinion is someone who’s completely old school, and this is the new school. Obama is continuously breaking the rules and creating waves in his own way, and I think that’s really refreshing. But I think we need to focus our attention on other things that are a lot more important and pressing in the world than the fashion statement our president is making.”

Thanks Donna 😉

Truly, the world has gone bonkers

PS Does anyone remember the OUTRAGE when Crocs were worn at the White House? Nope, me neither.

And yes, they are POTUS socks 😐

S. Holland reminded us, in the comments, about all the fuss following photos of President Obama with his feet on the Oval Office desk. How ‘uppity’ is that? Here it is:

Oh, wait.

And then there was the UPROAR about President Obama playing with a football in the Oval Office – such disrespect! Here it is:

Then there was the FURY when President Obama appeared in the Oval Office without a jacket – the headline on a wingnut site was ‘Obama Breaks Reagan/Bush Oval Office Jacket Rule’……

For sure Chipsticks, the world has gone bonkers in some corners out there! I don’t think that a child in a hospital cares what our POTUS is wearing or that kid going to bed hungry gives two sh*ts about it either but some loony-toonies do.

“God” bless our president & family, today and always.

I knew that they critic the president for everything from day one and before, but this is really desperation. They have to come to realize that Pres Obama is his own man and does things his way {or Michele’s}. Love this first family

Too funny, the lady calls it “a fashion statement”…..not in Hawaii, Ya idgit! Everyday apparel the last time I went. I guess Bush photographed in *friggin* *Crocs* was okay and normal for a prez! Flip flops have been around a lot longer than Crocs! Did you see what Murdoch’s, New York Post did to him???

My answer to the NYP question is an unequivocable, “H3ll, Yes! When I first saw the president in flip-flops, I thought nothing of it. Haters have to hate when hate is all they have. I say fruck ’em.

I’m guilty of still wearing my flip-flops, and the temperature here in GA has been 30 degrees, and lower. In fact, I wore them to WalMart last week, and I know it was 40 degrees outside. IMO, this is no biggie. PBO looks good no matter what he wears. I also wonder whether anyone who is complaining about the president wearing flip-flops on vacation noticed that when he reached D.C., he was all suited up as he was leaving AF 1.

Why on earth should this surprise us……after all, he did put his feet up on the desk in the oval office…….remember that huge flap??! So, let me get this straight, he should, on vacation, on a beach mind you, have put on “proper socks” and the wingtips that all proper God fearing/loving Americans wear, right?? And, don’t forget, he should have his American flag lapel pin on his shirt. These idiots who waste time venting about his dress make me want to pound my head into my desk! What is wrong with these people??!

This is really getting ridiculous. Remember the hoopla over the “mandals”? He switches to flip-flops and that’s a problem too? Are men not allowed to show their feet?

I was actually surprised by the huffpo story a few day ago on this, which wasn’t skewed like a hit piece. It read like he is “one of us” for wearing flip flops…historical….down to earth…etc. Whatever….he has nice feet.

Half naked at the beach? no problem.

    Feet showing? too much. F-THEM!

Thomas Jefferson was also attacked for being unacceptably casual. He did not like wearing a wig, and once shocked the British ambassador by receiving him in worn out slippers.

This makes me laugh! If this all they got left I say the President got them where he wants them! I remember when a GWB former Chief of Staff came out critizing the President for not where a suit jacket in the Oval Office; then a picture was produce the next day with Bush not wearing one! It was so laugh out loud funny.
