Back at the office….
JB: “Actually, I used a Macy’s catalog to swear in Rand Paul, so his votes won’t count at all.”
BO: “Good job, Joe!”

Yay Harry Reid!
Eww Rand Paul.
Eww Marco Rubio.
I’m with ya!
Double www on Marco Rubio! Can’t stand him.
I’m so upset I can’t even spell. So deeply disappointed that my state voted in Scott, Rubio, and Allen West (black tea partier, wtf?!?)
Joe Biden is the best Vice President I’ve known, and I’ve known many of them and groaned with embarrassment over them, too.
Hmmmmm…..Ms. Lisa kinda cozy with our VP. What’s up with that? is she really going to be the Lieberman of the Republican party?
I’m losing track of everything, but didn’t she vote for the repeal of DADT, for the START treaty and supported the DREAM Act? Crikey, how can someone that decent be in the Republican party??
Ah, just looked her up – she was one of only five Republican senators who voted with Democrats for the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
Come on Lisa, cross that aisle – permanently!
Love, love Joe Biden! He is just so right!
I so totally LOVE Joe! Wait, my husband loves him too?! BUT then again we are full of love for all the O’team!
My whole “familia” here for O’Biden-2012!!!!!!!!!!
I love the last two pictures – the one with VP Biden looking very VP-ish on his own, and then giggling with the President to report about the nutjobs he just installed into Congress. They look pretty relaxed about the whole thing. I’m so glad the President has an old hand like VP Biden, who has seen many strange days in Congress. Helps to put days like today in context, I’m sure.
on a side note – Rubio’s wife doesn’t look too happy. The sons of the Rand(om) nutjob also look mad, and couldn’t they take their hands out of their pockets while their father is being sworn in? Manners.
I agree Theo. Sometimes I forget how young (politically) our POTUS is. Thank goodness he has an elder like VP Biden in his corner, especially since Ted Kennedy went home too soon. I wonder if TK didn’t become ill and was still around would the Dems have become so complacent and fear the repubs so much, leaving PBO to brunt everything on his own.
The hands-in-pocket thing was odd, surely they’re old enough to know better? Like their father, they appear not to have any manners!
The biggish son in the background with hands in pockets also has a smart-aleck look on his face. He needs a grandmother’s slap across the back of his head.
Oh Joan, that was funny…
Noticed the badly behaved Rand sons and rubio’s wife too, Theo. I suspect rubio’s wife already smells his chick on the side in D.C. Be careful what you wish for couldn’t be better applied than for these two families. It just won’t end well I tell you. By the time this is over, Mrs Rubio will be filing for divorce etc.
Well since the Republicans are boosting them to be their answer to Obamas she knows she’s under a lot of pressure. Don’t know if she will be able to handle it, she doesn’t have Michelle’s toughness and I can imagine her wilting.
Senator Murkowski has made her way on my favs Senators list. Senate majority leader Reid remains #1 though. Hope they don’t disappoint me going forward. Poor Nancy…:(
I’m holding out on endorsing Sen. Murkowski just yet. She mentioned during the campaign (after the Republican party had already denounced her for continuing to fight) that she intended to caucus with the Republicans. She may have voted ok for the lame duck session, but I want to see what happens in the coming months before I put her on my list of favorites.
Oh really, I will be paying attention so time will tell. For now she came through big time.
Ms.Lisa may just step out as an independent, seeing how the rethuglicans abandoned her for crazy joe Miller…this is going to be very interesting!!!
I’m not holding my breath on that one!!!
Unfortunately, many of today’s republicans are nothing but petty, racist, self-serving opportunists with no ounce of care for the greater good. They are joined at the hip and united in their common hate and envy of President Obama (of course they do have a few allies in the Democratic party too!!!)
Unfortunately, I think you’re right Eleroy. I believe they voted as a block against unemployment benefits, 9/11 responders, and health care. These are things that only the heartless would vote against. They showed us who they are with the 9/11 responder bill.
Seems McCain can’t look Joe in the eyes. I have nothing good to say about McCain, so I’ll refrain.
Vice President Biden really lights up a room, doesn’t he……love him.
Is it me or does Rand Paul’s family look BORED?
They were hoping that the Obama girls would be there. They told papa Paul that they wanted to meet Sasha and Malia. Unfortunately, no such luck today.
😀
It’s not you, Anita. They look sneeringly bored.
The boys look arrogant – like their father.
How Republican of them!
Indeed – can’t be all that nice when the father wants to repeal the Civil Rights Act. That’s not good stock!
You can tell a lot about a person by how their children behave. And it appears that the Paul’s have raised some arrogant, feeling entitled little monsters. I remember the photos of then Senator Barack Obama being sworn in. Sasha couldn’t have been more than three and showed grace, class and manners.
And I just love our President and VP. President Obama sure knew what he was doing when he selected Joe. Of course, he always knows what he’s doing. Such excellent judgment.
And there is always a little kid with his finger in his nose. *L* Did you see him?
McGrumpy just looks shifty and unpleasant, as usual. But I agree – as a family, the Pauls take the stale cake.
I always notice how affable our president, vp, and many of our democrats are. They really don’t mind touching, and having people, touch them. I noticed how Senator Boxer’s hubby had his arm around VP Biden as he was swearing in the senator. I love our “people loving” politicians. They are a big change from what happened during the GWB Administration. To me, Cheney’s smile always looked like he was having problems with bowel movements, and GWB’s smiles always looked fake, and were more like smirks. GWB and Cheney seemed to have had bad chemistry between them. Not so with the current president and vice-president.
Yes our President and VP love people and it shows. You can’t fake this. To me, Cheney’s “smile” seemed more like a snarl.
Cheney smiled…?
I only recall a half sneer…
