bowled over … by the rain

Mercury News: President Barack Obama passed the time on a cloudy, drizzly Hawaiian day with a family trip to a bowling alley and then some hoops with friends.

The president, 12-year-old Malia and 9-year-old Sasha arrived at the bowling alley at Marine Corps Base Hawaii on Monday afternoon. The Obamas later were joined by family friends for some basketball, a sport the president prefers to bowling…..

The president’s party played Monday on a court at the Marine base that has become a sanctuary for the Obamas on their Hawaiian vacations. The president golfs on the base course, the first couple uses its gym for morning workouts and the first family often visits a secluded beach here.

But the Obamas haven’t had much in the way of beach weather since the president arrived here Thursday. Clouds hung over the island of Oahu on Monday, and more rain is forecast throughout the week.

KITV: After the afternoon at the base, the Obamas and their friends headed to Island Snow for shave ice. The president treated his daughters and guests to a variety of orders. President Obama showed off his Melona, lemon-lime and cherry cone to the media. He posed for some pictures with the workers before eating and heading back to their Kailua beach house
