The Onion: Barack Obama, the first black president, proved to millions this year that he is either trying his best to lead the nation during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, or he is the modern-day incarnation of Adolph Hitler. One of the two.

In 2010, Obama made a number of political compromises while still trying to pursue many of the reforms laid out during his 2008 campaign. Also, he was a totalitarian monster comparable to the perpetrator of one of the worst genocides in history. He is either a president who passed a comprehensive health care measure despite staunch opposition from powerful private interests, or a radical-Islamist sympathizer bent on systematically dismantling American democracy and eradicating all human liberty. He either lowered taxes for most Americans while failing to communicate that effectively, or he is pure evil. Whichever.

Barack Obama, two of the most important people of 2010: the one who was elected to be president of the United States and execute laws to the best of his ability, and the one who murders senior citizens and hates all white people. Only history will say which he is for sure.

USA Today: First lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters are scheduled to leave Saturday for an end-of-the-year vacation in Hawaii. When President Obama might join them remains a mystery.

“If I had to guess, I would say Wednesday,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said today.

It all depends when Congress finishes its work, including two Senate items that Obama is pushing hard: Ratification of an arms cut treaty with Russia, and repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy toward gays.

Obama will be on the phone in the next few days discussing these and other issues with key senators….he also plans to lobby senators for the DREAM Act, immigration legislation that would give children brought to the U.S. illegally a chance at residency if they attend college or serve in the military.

In the meantime, we’re sure Mrs. Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha — and Bo the dog — will be thinking about Dear Old Dad working hard in chilly Washington while they hang out in sunny Hawaii.

The entire First Family will return to Washington DC January 1, 2011

In an interview with radio host Tom Joyner last week, President Obama joked that it was a foregone conclusion that his family would take off for warmer weather without him.

“Michelle has pointed out that she is leaving on the 18th with or without me,” the president joked. “So she has made her arrangements. She is like, ‘I hope you come with us, but see ya.'”

“that’s the nature of compromise”

President Barack Obama signs the middle-class tax cut bill in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on December 17, 2010 in Washington DC. The measure would extend tax cuts for families at every income level, renew jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed and enact a new one-year cut in Social Security taxes that would benefit nearly every worker who earns a wage.
