My state has been historically and fairly consistently blue – the fact that we can possibly have both a Republican senator and governor is so unsettling to me. For my hometown newspaper to shape the story about the loss of the senate seat to a Republican in the framework of a “humiliating and personal” loss for the president is preposterous and sensationalistic. If the Democratic senate candidate worked a fourth as hard as the president maybe we would not be in this situation. Mainstream media claims “the people” have spoken, in my mind, the only thing that has spoken decisively is the money. The deluge of attack ads funded by virtually anonymous sources, possibly even foreign corporations is a dreadful thought. The surge of Republicans means more contention for the president, they have generally campaigned on fear, and hate – not too advance ideas.
In 2010, it should be obvious what we’re fighting for – the fact that you have to “Get Out the Vote” is disturbing. Are people blind?
Chipsticks – I hope you do not mind my vent, I felt this is basically the only safe harbor from the madness and skewed perception of MSM.

So true – it should never have been a contest between the Democrats and obstructionist Republicans. And those who chose to believe in “death panels” and such are willfully ignorant. These Republicans just got 21 months of pay for doing nothing to clean up the mess they caused – and they have every intention of spending the next two years doing nothing productive for advancing this country. I stand by the President – he’s the only one who’s serious right now.
